Walton County LDC § 5.09.00 Short-Term Rental Fire Life-Safety Rules

1. Evacuation Plan Display

A diagram of the short-term vacation rental indicating primary and secondary escape routes must be posted conspicuously on or immediately adjacent to the inside of every bedroom door and inside the primary egress foyer.

2. Fire Extinguisher Ratings

At least one operational 2A:10B:C rated commercial fire extinguisher must be provided per habitable floor level. Each extinguisher must bear a valid annual Florida State Fire Marshal certified inspection collar tag.

3. Smoke & CO Interconnectivity

Interconnected hardwired smoke alarms must be installed within each bedroom and in immediate common corridors. Carbon monoxide alarms are mandatory within 10 feet of all sleeping rooms in properties with gas appliances.
